DFS Special Wild Card Weekend

Hello Fantasy Faithfuls, after a week off I am back again with focus on Daily Fantasy. I will be putting out DFS content for the rest of season all the way to the Super Bowl and after that take a quick break before officially starting to prepare for the 2020 Fantasy Season!

Before I get into today's article I would like to highlight some changes to the Patreon Page. In 2020 you will have the opportunity to join the CSD Fantasy Discord server as a Patron. This means that you get access to a server where you can ask questions and know that I will get a notification. I get so many questions on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram that sometimes I miss one. With the Discord server you have a guarantee that I will answer Your questions! Check it out with by clicking here.

Today, I will give you my DFS team for the Sunday Wild Card games. I will create one optimal lineup with my projections as starting point. The scoring will be 1 PPR scoring, salary will be $60,000, salaries are from FanDuel and I will be needing 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX and 1 DEF. Let's dig in!

Projection: Based on previous stats, trends and performances a player gets a projected score for the week. This number is heavily impacted by things like where the game is played, what team he plays and the players previous games in similar situations and previous games in general.

Opp. Rank: Ranking of the players weekly opponent. The higher the number the less points the opponent give up to the player's position. If the Opp. Rank is 1 that means that they are the team that give up the most amount of points to the player's position in the league.

I was looking back at the article from the same time last year and saw that Russell Wilson was my DFS Quarterback back then as well. The Quarterback position was a huge struggle for me this week. I really wanted to play Drew Brees but with a salary $500 more than Wilson there was just no way to play him. Wilson's projection is lower but with a high ceiling and average opponent I still have faith in him.

Continuing with Seattle players I got Travis Homer. He was actually the first guy I looked at as he's very cheap good at catching passes and with lack of competition in the backfield someone that the Seahawks will have to rely on in 3rd down situations with Lynch only playing 1st and 2nd.

Dalvin Cook is next up and this is not only because he's a fantastic player but also because I believe that the Minnesota Vikings will try to get back to what made them successful early on, the running game. The Saints are actually a fantastic run defense and lackluster in the air but to me that doesn't matter with Cook. With him back in the lineup and the passing game looking terrible over the last couple of weeks I think it will be run heavy and the Saints defense will be able to pick of Cousins in the air at least one time.

On the other side I have Michael Thomas. 7.7 in ppr in Week 17 was an anomaly and mainly because they got out to such a big lead. This week he's back to being the best Receiver in the league and I can see him going for 150 yards and a touchdown. I filled the roster with two more pass catching Saints as they are cheap and I don't think that the Vikings will dominate the air like the did against Chicago, this is another type of beast.

Metcalf is instead of Lockett as I couldn't afford him, I wanted at least one Receiver from the Seahawks and I would actually have wanted both of them. But Metcalf will be good enough to be in this lineup and if Wilson leans on him the same way he did against a much better defense last week I can see big things happening.

Howard is back and this is a gamble for me. Looking at what the 49ers did against the Seahawks in Week 17 I can see the Eeagles trying to do the same and handing the ball to several backs and running over the front. This opens up the door for Howard to sneak in a touchdown or even being the lead back with some fresh legs.
